The Archive Conservation Unit of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is responsible for preserving and restoring valuable archival materials such as manuscripts, maps, photographs, and rare records. Using scientific and traditional conservation techniques, the unit safeguards these resources from deterioration, ensuring their longevity for research, documentation, and heritage preservation.
The Preservation Unit of ASI focuses on preventive care and environmental management of archival collections. It works to control temperature, humidity, light exposure, and biological threats, ensuring optimal storage conditions. By implementing preventive conservation measures, the unit reduces risks of damage and extends the life of historically significant documents and artifacts.
The Reprographic Unit of ASI is engaged in creating high-quality reproductions of archival materials, including photographs, maps, and manuscripts.
